Since its inception in 2008 by Kurt Liedwart and Sergey Kolosov, Moscow-based Mikroton Recordings produced a quite eclectic mix of albums fostering a network of international artists coming from different types of music: electronic, electroacoustic, minimalism, free jazz, post rock, jazz rock, noise rock, noise, ambient and drone. The curatorial habits of the label are wide-ranging, from commissioning releases from established pioneers like Günter Müller, Keith Rowe, John Tilbury, Werner Dafeldecker, Norbert Möslang, Jason Kahn, Christof Kurzmann, Burkhard Stangl, Marcus Schmickler, and Thomas Lehn, to giving a platform to emerging talents such as Petr Vrba, Veronika Mayer, Angélica Castelló, Jaime Genovart, and Pablo Reche, and publishing music works of the curator. In 2020 Liedwart set up his mind to narrow aesthetic eclecticism only to electronic music in its various forms from minimalism, ambient and mixed experimental stylistic crossovers to psychedelic kosmische electronica and techno.
